Diplomatic crisis between Conakry and Brussels against the background of the threat of expulsion of Guineans from Belgium

As announced in one of our previous articles, several Guinean migrants living in Belgium are threatened with expulsion by a charter flight. Their asylum applications were rejected by the Belgian General Commissariat for Refugees. Faced with this situation, the Guinean Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Morissanda Kouyaté, took initiatives, including the convening of the Belgian Ambassador to Guinea to express Guinea’s disagreement with this action by the Belgian authorities.

“Facing the particular case of a charter which is preparing to send Guineans from Belgium to Guinea, I have activated the crisis unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the following actions have been taken: summoning the Belgian Ambassador to Guinea to inform him of our total disagreement by asking to postpone this unilateral project; sending our Ambassador to Belgium to the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to carry the same message;that they are treated with dignity and ask for their pure and simple release if they have not committed any legally reprehensible fault,” said the Guinean Minister for Foreign Affairs.
